Titel: the Last Encounter
Språk: Engelska Typ av text: Fanfiction Antal kapitel hittills: 1 Färdigskriven: Ja Rating: PG-13 Beskrivning: This is how I imaged the last meeting between Lily and Petunia to have played out. Pretty sad, actually. But it's life. ________________________________________ the Last Encounter a story by ~dani ________________________________________ 1976 "Bye Tuni!" Lily tried to give her big sister a hug but Petunia made an elegant dive to escape her sister's embrace. She said nothing, she just stared numbly at her red haired little sister. Lily looked at her sister's composed face and sighed sadly. "You honestly meant what you said? Are you never going to speak to me again?" She tried to steady her soprano voice, but failed when it wobbled violently. Petunia didn't notice, or just didn't care enough because she didn't move an inch. "Well, what had I expected really?" Lily thought to herself. Petunia finally giving up and admitting that she missed her little sister just like Lily missed her? At least she had hoped so. She still felt a twinge of sadness to see her sister act like that, like she didn't care. They loved each other, didn't they? They used to be best friends, and share everything. Every dream and every memory. They might have looked like black and white, compared to one another, but still, they had loved each other. They were sisters. Why couldn't Petunia accept Lily for who she was? Was it really that hard? Maybe Dumbledore was right, maybe it all had to do with Petunia being jealous for not being accepted at Hogwarts herself. When Lily thought about it, that probably was the problem. Petunia had been jealous, but only in the beginning. She grew to loath what Lily was, loath everything about the magical world, anything that wasn't normal. As time progressed, and the years flew by, Petunia grew more reserved towards her abnormal sister and Lily could only watch her do so, because there was nothing she could do to change who she was. She couldn't just stop using magic. She couldn't just change. She couldn't. Her beloved home, had turned into a torturous place. Whenever she came home nowadays, she was met by a pair of ice cold eyes, deprived from any loving feelings. Their parents didn't seem to notice anything that went on between the two sisters, they never had. They were too busy attending charity galas, or eating dinner with the prime minister to even spend time with their daughter, when she was home. Lily looked down at her favorite, worn out pair of shoes. "You know, Tuni, we might not see each other in a while now." she tried, but in vain. She was met by the usual silence. Instead of giving up, Lily pushed on. "Aren't you going to miss me?" she stared intently at her sister. Petunia just looked like she always did in Lily's presence, cold. Her eyes were the same piercing blue as always, but there was no light. There was nothing warm about the way Petunia observed her sister. Her big eyes were cold, beaten and muted, as if she had given up all hope of ever loving someone again. As if Lily had stolen her last ounce of hope, just by drowning that wondrous sparkle that used to shine so brightly. Tears were forming in Lily's eyes. Petunia wasn't going to answer, she had to accept that. No matter how many times she tried to reach out, her sister wouldn't let her in. Petunia was too proud. "Well, no matter what you say… or don't say, obviously, I'm going to miss you." Lily said, trying not to blink. She was too afraid of breaking the intense stare, as if the moment she closed her eyes, even if just for a fraction of a second, Petunia would be gone. She feared that if she closed her eyes, she would wake up to find herself in a completely different place, and realize that it had just been a dream. She needed Petunia and she had to try, at least, to understand what made her sister dislike her so much. And no matter how little she liked to admit it, she understood now. She finally accepted the fact that her only sister hated her guts. They glared at each other for what seemed like an eternity. No one wanted to give in. Lily was too stubborn to leave and Petunia was too bullish to admit that she missed her sister. Finally, Lily gave up and simply turned around, but not without giving her sister a final, pleading look. It made no difference, it didn't even come close to deranging her sister's stone gaze. "Goodbye." she sighed and exited the front door of their huge villa. Once outside, in the cold night air she inhaled loudly. It was nice to fill her lungs with fresh air, after being in such an awful encounter (on top of that, with her only sister). The last one. Back in the huge, beautifully decorated house, Petunia stood frozen in the same spot. She silently begged Lily to come back and smile at her again, that familiar old smile she both loved and loathed. She sighed and slowly, very slowly turned around, to never look at her little sister again. 15 jun, 2011 01:20 |
