“Where did you find that?”

"The floor, next to the wastebasket", Dorcas said and threw the test to Lily, who instinctivelty caught it. "If you wanted to keep it a secret from us, you probably should have been more careful", she added, a bitterness to her voice.

Lily sighed and sank onto the neatly made bed opposite her own, feeling like a kid caught stealing a cookie out of the cookie jar. “Look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, but I just recently found out too, and I needed some time to comprehend”, she managed to say, due to the lump forming in her throat. “I guess it all seemed so... unreal.”

Mary, who had been quiet the whole time, suddenly spoke. “Who's the father?”

Lily looked down at the pregnancy test in her hands. “James Potter.” Her voice broke, and she covered her face with her hands, ashamed of her tears but unable to hold them back. This was for real, not a bad nightmare that you would wake up from. “I'm not ready for this, guys”, she sobbed.

After what seemed like an eternity, Mary got up and embraced her. She didn't say anything, just sat there and stroked her hair soothingly, comforting her.

“We're here for you. We'll get through this together”, Dorcas said and Alice nodded her head.

Lily shot them grateful looks. “Thank you, guys”, she said as Mary and her broke apart and she wiped her tears.

“Have you, you know... told him yet?” Alice asked hesitantly.

“No”, Lily mumbled. “You are the only ones who know.”

“You have to tell him, Lily; this baby is just as much his as yours”, Mary said.

“I know, I will tell him. I'm just so afraid that... that he would want nothing to do with neither one of us once he finds out.”

“That's nonsense!” Mary said. “James is a nice guy, he would never do that.”

Lily sighed and shrugged. “Maybe you're right.”

They became quiet for a while, and then Alice said cautiously, “Have you ever considered abortion?”

“I have considered it, but I would never forgive myself”, Lily answered, putting her hands over her stomach with a sigh. “What's done is done. I have only myself to blame, I guess.”

“It would be pretty awesome with a mini-Lily, though”, Mary said as a grin broke across her face.

Lily couldn't help but smile and Alice squealed, “I hope he'll have your eyes! They are so beautiful!”

Lily smiled at her and Dorcas said, “What makes you so sure it's a he?”

“I didn't mean it like that”, Alice exclaimed with big eyes.

“It's fine, Alice, I know you didn't”, Lily assured her.

“What would you name it if it is a boy?” Mary asked excitedly, moving into sitting cross legged on the bed and the other girls joined them on the bed.

Lily chuckled and pulled her legs underneath her. “I don't know, I haven't really thought about it”, she said truthfully. “Daniel maybe?”

“If I ever get a son I will name him Neville”, Dorcas said, grinning.

“How can you be so certain of that?” Alice asked.

“My grandfather was named Neville”, Dorcas answered, shrugging her shoulders. “He meant a lot to me.”

“Well, I think Harry is a beautiful name”, Mary said.

“Harry... I like that name”, Lily said, lying down on her back on the bed. “Sounds like the name of someone brave, someone who'll accomplish great things.”
